FoodJollys: The Black Horse – Beamish

#AfternoonTea

To celebrate my Husband putting up with my pregnant nature, I took him to the Black Horse Beamish for afternoon tea when I started my maternity leave. The first time we had afternoon tea was when we stayed overnight at Ardoe House in Aberdeen. The other half loves sandwiches so it was an instant hit.

The Black Horse had been highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional given that it was a quiet Friday afternoon but the place was still busy. Set in the surroundings of gorgeous countryside with super views, we were seated in the conservatory and it was a super hot day! Stupidly I ordered tea to accompany our light bites, should have gone for water!

When the platters arrived, they were stunning. Two 3 tier displays with cakes and scones littered with fresh summer berries. The sandwiches were served on a separate platter. We dug in.

The sandwiches consisted of ham and pease pudding, tuna mayo and cheese savoury. They were tiny but amazing! The buns were super tasty.

The scones. OMG! They were something else. Home baked you could tell. They were the best scones I’ve ever tasted. They were simply delicIous.

Cakes? Some amount of cake. We couldn’t actually finish all that we had been served. We asked for a take-away box! It was the best value for money I have seen from an afternoon tea. The highlight for us was the scones. And the little mousse style pudding that was just so light and fresh. It was like eating a tasty cloud!

I highly recommend the Black Horse at Beamish. They have an outside area and the entire place was like a tardis, once inside it is big place with plenty space! The food was just amazing, as well as the service.
